Ever ride a real trolley car?
The ting-ting of the trolley bell, the growl of the gears, the ticka-ticka-ticka of the air compressor... Take a step back in time to when many American towns and cities offered inexpensive and convenient transportation using electric trolleys.
Our collection has nine operational trolleys, including Pennsylvania's only operating open car, high-speed interurban cars, fascinating maintenance-of-way cars like a huge snowplow and a 106-year-old snow sweeper, and a Philadelphia PCC. Plus you'll see more cars being restored in our shops by our talented volunteers.
You and your family can learn how about trolleys and how your parents and grandparents got around in America, while enjoying a leisurely ride through the scenic countryside.

You might get to ride York Railways #163.
Believe it or not, this now-beautiful car
was a derelict hunting cabin when it was
found. Restored to immaculate condition,
it runs most operating days. It is the only operating car to have survived from the York (PA) Railways. |
| On a hot summer day, choose to ride our open
car. Car #1875 was built in Brazil to an American design. The craftsmanship of the tropical-wood interior is bound to impress you. The residents of Rio knew how to travel in style! |

Steam is an attraction at our museum, too! Trolley cars meet steam trains of the adjacent East Broad Top Railroad, allowing you to see and ride narrow gauge steam just a few feet away. |

We are now accepting Visa and Mastercard payments for museum admission.

- Children: $3.00 (2 to 12)

Discounts
- Walk-up group rates for 15 or more people
- Pre-arranged group rates for 25 or more people
- Discount with EBT ticket, AAA, AARP, or NRHS card
- Two-for-one admission with Public Broadcasting MemberCard
Schedule
- Saturday and Sunday only, 11am to 4pm
- Weekends, June through October.
- Special events only in November and December.
- Trolleys depart each half-hour, or as needed
- Trolleys meet each returning East Broad Top RR steam train
Due to the historic nature of our equipment, schedules may be forced to change.
Fares may change without prior notice.
Notes on East Broad Top Railroad
Most visitors also ride steam trains of the adjacent East Broad Top railroad. Their schedules normally coincide with ours:
- We begin operations the first weekend in June, as does the East Broad Top RR.
- East Broad Top trains run weekends, June through October, at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm.
