Fire Drill!

[Thanks! This position has been filled.]

HELP! Our museum needs a new volunteer to manage fire extinguisher maintenance. The job takes just a few days each year, but could save our trolley collection or facilities someday. A volunteer fireman or medic would be an ideal candidate, but anyone who appreciates the importance of safety could do this job. The person just needs to maintain a list of all our extinguishers, arrange for their professional servicing and inspection each spring, and do a mid-year inspection in the fall. Please contact us if you are interested in this important job!

Our museum needs volunteers to work in all areas. While some people enjoy operating or restoring trolleys, others prefer to take on less obvious tasks necessary to keep our museum and grounds in good shape.

For some reason, trolley cars just do not stay clean. Maybe it's the seagulls... Regardless, we sure could use new volunteers interested in keeping our collection attractive for the public.

Each year we schedule a week of work adjacent to our Members' Day. Many volunteers elect to take vacation days from their normal job to help out with projects at RTM. It's a great opportunity to gets lots done without conflicts with public operations, distractions from shop tours, etc. (pics C Salomon, J Salomon, et al.)

No more jokes about the oil house exploding. This time we are simply noting that new volunteers in the shop are often immediately put to work using our abrasive blast cabinet to clean parts for refinishing. It's a task that's not too arduous and shows immediate results, and we almost always have lots of parts in need of rust and paint removal.

Some of our volunteers enjoy working at our Museum so much that they have enlisted their distant relatives to help as well.

With the addition of this volunteer, we now have our own Staff Meterologist at Rockhill Trolley Museum! The forecast for our future is bright and sunny every time a person like you joins our museum and begins to volunteer.
